Zapruder Filmmakersgroup

David Zamagni and Nadia Ranocchi, collectively ZAPRUDER, are Italian filmmakers and visual artists

Since the 2000s, Zapruder Filmmakersgroup have been conducting a type of research that distances itself from the more traditional forms of filmmaking to address an expanded kind of cinema, experimenting in the field of stereoscopy and setting up collaborations with ltalian research theatre.

Zeus Machine. L’invincibile (Zeus Machine. The lnvincible) (2019) is a video proposing “twelve archaeological finds from the present”, rooting the hero’s labors in the contemporary age and recontextualizing it in relation to the landscapes and narrations of the ltalian suburbs. Hercules’ story is told through the image of the hero, already digested by epic cinema and entered into the imaginary of Rome and Cinecittà thanks to epic films like Ben-Hur. The collective reflects on mythology as a tool for the reproduction and survival of the myth, letting the viewer experience the “mythological machine”.
