Lives in Naples

Raffaela Naldi Rossano delegates the construction of the multiple selves, of the other, and of the ‘us’ to the broad field of perception and interpersonal relations. The artist traces the memory deposited in objects and materials and builds relations between them and the individual, naturally incomplete and constantly bound into these kinds of interconnections.

In We Are the Granddaughters of the Witches You Were Never Able to Burn (2019), the artist reconstructs an ideal descendance recovering a motto capitalised by neoliberal merchandising and bringing it back to its collective, feminist and feminine dimension. The motto acquires the concreteness and sensuality of the ceramic in which it materialises. The investigation of memory takes place also in Liquid Confession (2020), a stoup containing lemons, which invites the visitor to dive in the aroma of citrus fruits and participate in the artist’s memories.
