Lives in Milan

Norma Jeane is an artist without a body, a gender, or a biography, who links the theme of identity to a reflection on the strategies of the production of an artwork. Their multimedia production challenges the centrality of the human species and confers a sensible dimension to technology.

Norma Jeane is interested in observing this dimension in relation to human beings and investigating the process of projection to which technological objects are subjected. This symbiotic link is translated into the external space of Palazzo delle Esposizioni by the work Corpo di fabbrica (Body of the Building, 2020), a system of lights regulated by the frequency and intensity of the breath of Norma Jeane, who for the entire duration of the exhibition will wear a device sending real-time data to the lighting control unit. The work, visible only at dark when the exhibition is closed, invites a reflection on the political implication of breathing, all the more present in this year of 2020.
